Ultraman 80 is the ninth Ultra Brother and also the last live action Ultraman from the Showa era. As his human form Takeshi Yamato, 80 was a teacher at the Sakura-ga-Oka Middle School. He theorized that monsters originated from Minus Energy, which is created from the negative emotions of humans. 80 is a well known teacher from the Land of Light and was the last Ultra Warrior assigned to protect Earth in the main timeline until Ultraman Mebius' arrival in 2006.

Not much can be said about 80's past life, but he was said to have been friends with Yullian at that moment. As a child, 80 had once fell for an unnamed crush and had been working on part time jobs to buy her favorite musical instrument. Unfortunately by the time he was able to buy it, said girl had already dumped him for a new boyfriend. Despite 80's own disdain, he decided to give the present to her anyway as a sign of his feelings.

Ultraman 80 came to Earth as one of the newest members of the Inter Galactic Defense Force, in the form of Takeshi Yamato. After a five/four-year hiatus since the departure of Ultraman Leo, monsters started reappearing again.
