Ultraman Jack is the fourth Ultra Warrior to arrive on Earth, debuting in Return of Ultraman. To protect the Earth from rampaging monsters and alien invaders, he becomes one with Hideki Go, who joins the defense team MAT. Jack's signature weapon is the Ultra Bracelet, which he received from Ultraseven.

As the next generation after Ultraman and Ultraseven, Tsuburaya Productions made Jack's design similar to the original Ultraman. Some of the changes included were the Ultra Bracelet, the stripes on his body, as well as modifying his Color Timer.

While nearly identical in appearance to the original Ultraman, the red patterns on Ultraman Jack's silver suit are slightly different, and he can be distinguished by his shorter "pants", fuller "sleeves" and "knee pads", and pinstripes along the red areas.

Ultraman Jack is one of the few Ultras who does not require a transformation device. Hideki Go, the human host for Ultraman Jack, simply raises his hands to transform at will when Ultraman Jack signals him to do so, or sometimes even against his will in a very desperate situation.
