Zakuto's body was in a state of suspended animation, and the "Fragments of Darkness" possessed by Waka Zakuto and the Four Devas of Darkness were attached to it, reviving him as the Yami Shogun. However, he is resurrected as the Yami Shogun, and has no will of his own; he is controlled by the evil soul of the Yami Koutei. The Fragments of Darkness were shattered by the Sandaime Gundam Daishogun's Flash Sword, and Zakuto was freed from the curse.
