He becomes gigantic when the Gundam Crystal on his forehead is hit by an arrow of evil destruction. Furthermore, he was bestowed with crystal power by the Three Daishoguns, and combined with his guardian beast, the Flame Phoenix, to become the Great Phoenix, which defeated the Black Demon Emperor.
