The RGM-89De Jegan [ECOAS Type] is a special version of the RGM-89D Jegan D Type used by the Earth Federation's special task group ECOAS, and are deployed in ECOAS missions that are expected to involve direct combat with mobile suits. It has a special visor and extra chest armor for increased survivability. The ECOAS Type features similar armaments as the normal Jegan D Type, consisting of a beam saber, a beam rifle, three hand grenades, and a shield with built-in missile launchers. Optional armaments included a handheld bazooka and a dagger knife stored in a sheath mounted on the left shoulder.

There also exist customized units with different weaponry and equipment, such as the machine used by Conroy Haagensen. Conroy's Jegan [ECOAS Type] is equipped with the dagger knife, has special "Fire Nut" grenades in place of the hand grenades, and additional weapons consisting of a box beam saber on its right forearm, and a handgun stored on its left leg. Additionally, the special visor of Conroy's Jegan [ECOAS Type] has an added precision firing sensor for improved firing accuracy.

Two RGM-89De Jegan [ECOAS Type] were first seen accompanying the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam toward the wreckage of Laplace, and they later fought against the Sleeves forces that arrived later.
