This was the Karaba unit used to rescue survivors of the Prospero Fall Incident on December 6, UC 0087. The "-3" and "Unit 3" designations merely indicate the unit's specifications (version), and there are various theories about the base unit itself, including that it was the third batch from Master Archive Zeta Gundam, a spare unit following Unit 2 from Masterpiece Rollout Zeta Gundam, or the second unit, as explained in the G Generation DS game.

At this point, it was not officially deployed to Karaba, but was undergoing evaluation testing. Numerous additional equipment was prepared to meet Karaba's order, which they were considering purchasing as their main TMS for atmospheric use. As a result, while it is the same unit, details of its shape and coloring have been seen to vary depending on the time period, as seen in the White Zeta and Strike Zeta, which will be discussed later. Both units feature a striking white base with gray accents and purple lines. At the time of the Prospero Incident, an optional booster for high-altitude interception was being tested, and after several missions, it was reverted to its original MSZ-006-1 configuration.

Karaba wanted to achieve great results with a small number of units, and proposed the "Global NT Force Ready Dispatch Initiative," which would rapidly deploy forces on any front on Earth. The Unit 3, which was undergoing evaluation testing at the time, attracted attention. However, investor AE Corporation was planning a cheaper mass-produced Zeta Gundam. Although the Unit 3 was received at the request of a leading pilot of the Audhumra Unit, who was described as a "hero of the One Year War," testing revealed that the pilot's complex handling required NT training, and the piloting system became an obstacle, causing the concept to naturally fall apart. Ultimately, Karaba's leadership decided to introduce a "mass-produced unit based on the Zeta" that could be deployed by troops.
