The Titans, taking interest in the Asshimar—a groundbreaking new mobile weapon with a practical transformation system—seized a space-use prototype and completed it with their own refinements. However, since development of both machines progressed in parallel, it did not serve as the basis for the Asshimar. Because the transformation system placed heavy stress on the frame under gravity, the first prototype was designed for testing in zero gravity, where the load was reduced. The frame construction of the Prototype Asshimar TR-3 [Kehaar] Space Type was highly complex and is regarded as an early example of a movable frame.

Externally, the only part it shares with the Asshimar is its head, though its antenna is larger than the Asshimar’s. As a prototype, it is not fully armored, leaving the torso and arms with exposed frames. Designed exclusively for space use, its legs were omitted and the lower body was instead fitted with three Sturm Boosters, which combine propellant tanks and thrusters. A spear-like tail stabilizer extends horizontally from its back. Unlike the Asshimar’s disk-shaped MA form, its transformation results in a configuration with multiple wing-like stabilizers for attitude control—these also serve as shields in MS form, providing excellent lateral defense.

It can also assume an intermediate form with only the Sturm Boosters deployed. A radome is mounted on the left side of the nose, which folds in two and stows behind the head in MS form, while a hidden sub-arm on the underside of the fuselage doubles as landing gear. Its primary weapon resembles the Asshimar’s beam rifle, but features dual energy supply methods: from two E-packs or directly from the fuselage. This machine was primarily used to test the flexibility and rigidity of the drum frame, with the resulting data later applied to the frame structure that became the foundation of the Gundam TR-6 [Woundwort]’s parts replacement system.
