Developed by Rakshata Chawla, this KMF is exclusively for Zero.
Equipped with a transformation mechanism into Fortress Mode (transformed in episodes 12 and 24), it is also capable of underwater navigation, making it the only all-purpose KMF capable of use on land, sea, and air. Control is the same as for standard KMFs, but weapon control can also be switched to using a touch-screen keyboard.
This keyboard system handles most of the unit's functions, including weapon control, information analysis, calculation of the deployment range of the Absolute Guardian Area, and calculation of the reflection angle of the Diffusion Structure Phase Transfer Cannon, requiring greater situational judgment and computational power than average humans. For this reason, it is difficult for anyone other than Zero to operate. Furthermore, half of its basic movements are automatically controlled by a program learned by the CPU.
With its powerful armament, including the Diffusion Structure Phase Transfer Cannon, this unit possesses performance worthy of being called a "mobile miniature fortress."
It continued to fight against the Britannian forces as the flagship of the Black Knights, but when Zero's true identity was revealed, Rolo stole it from the hangar, rescued Lelouch, and left the mothership Ikaruga. It then made an emergency landing in the forest, with Lelouch aboard and heading for Kamino Island. After the showdown with Emperor Charles, it was used as the Emperor's personal machine by the Britannian army to coincide with Lelouch's accession to the throne. In the final battle, it was destroyed by Gino's Tristan Divider at Fortress Damocles (although Lelouch managed to escape).
In the world later in the story, it seems that the question of "why Emperor Lelouch was piloting the Mirage, the personal machine of the traitor Zero" remains a mystery to the general public (according to the data files).
