This is the Dragunar Type 1, enhanced and modified at the Chongqing base. Also known as the D-1 Custom.

With the arrival of the mass-produced Dragoon, the D-1 was originally scheduled for scrapping, but was significantly upgraded with the intention of utilizing all the technology accumulated up until the creation of the Dragoon. It now integrates the lifter, which was previously optional, and a gravity field sensing system is built into the armored left shoulder.

The power increase was so rapid that even pilot Kane Wakaba was initially confused by the controls, and it ended up surpassing the performance of the Dragoon, which outperformed the prototype. During the fierce battle with the Gun and Gem units, Kane adapted to the unit's performance, and although he temporarily surrendered during the final stages of the attack on the Giganos Mobile Fortress, he ultimately played a key role in the Earth Alliance's victory.

The unit's power is particularly noteworthy; in its battle with the Gelpok unit, it performed the incredible feat of easily lifting a boulder with a diameter greater than its own height, flying it, and slamming it into the enemy unit. Also, in the battle against Gilgazamne, even though he was hit from behind by a barrage of machine gun fire and left in a battered state, he was able to break a sword that was as long as his own robot with a sword-catching technique, demonstrating incredible power that would put even a super robot to shame.
