Piloted by either Kazumi or Jung. Its main duties are reconnaissance and combat control, and it is equipped with powerful electronic and optical weaponry. After combining, it becomes the lower body, and the pilot is in charge of Gunbuster's fire control. It is armed with an all-around heat ray cannon, pulse laser cannon, and buster missiles.

The takeoff scene from the ground in episode 5 is based on the Alpha that appears in Earth Defense Force, and it takes off after a runway like a normal aircraft.
