Piloted by Noriko. Its main role is space superiority combat, and it has high attack power and mobility. After combining, it becomes the upper body, and the pilot controls the Gunbuster with whole-body movements using motion control. It is armed with a quadruple cold ray cannon, pulse laser cannon, and buster missiles.

The launch scene from the ground in episode 5 is based on the Spit that appears in "War of the Worlds," and it takes off vertically like a normal rocket.
