This ship (registration number: CC-102) is the ship of Lieutenant Commander Char Aznable at the beginning of the story. The name of the ship first appeared in the book "Mobile Suit Gundam: Strategic and Tactical Encyclopedia" published in 1991, and in the story, both Char and his aide Lieutenant Dren refer to it simply as "Musai". In the sixth issue of "Animec" published in August 1979 while the series was airing, it was called "Cruiser Musai (Char's Exclusive)", and when it was released as a plastic model in February 1981, the product name "Char's Exclusive Musai" became widely known. There are also sources that say this ship is one of the "officer's Musai".

While the bridge of a normal Musai is flat and box-shaped, this one has a unique shape reminiscent of Char's helmet, and its interior is also very different. This is because it has a large three-tier structure to secure space for the command staff and is equipped with powerful communication equipment, and it is also classified as a "flagship-type light cruiser".
