He was initially a unusually arrogant, insulting and narcissistic bully. However, after he stopped recieving funds from Vim and assumed the identity of "Bob", he became noticeably more sensitive to others' experiences, and his selfishness became replaced with willingness to help other people. At the same time, he develops melancholy tendencies as Guel continues to feel the burden of responsibility for the future of his family and the death of his father.

Through his concern for friends and loved ones, it is implied that he always had such traits of a good person, however, his reliance on his own hight skills and position eventually led to the fact that by the time he first met Suletta, his perception of honor turned into arrogance.The refusal of his family to support him and the painful losses to Suletta and Elan returned his moral compass, forcing him to remember the true meaning of honor again and pay new attention to the people around him.
