This is the state it was in when it swam upstream from the mouth of the Tama River near Haneda Airport and landed near the Tonogawa Shinbashi Bridge over National Route 131 in Nishikojiya 2-chome, Ota Ward, Tokyo (formerly Kamata Ward, Tokyo City).

It was initially thought that it would be unable to support its own weight and would collapse and die as it landed, but this view was completely wrong as it ran back up the river while rapidly evolving into a terrestrial form capable of moving on land using the strong hind legs that it had developed earlier, like a frog, as it made its way ashore.

It appears to be in a state where it is in the middle of evolving from its first aquatic form to a terrestrial form, with a face very similar to that of a frilled shark or a moray eel, abnormally large, expressionless eyes without eyelids, a long tail with fin-like tips inherited from its first form, and underdeveloped protruding forelimbs with folded elbows that would later become arms, giving it an overall appearance that is somewhere between a reptile and an amphibian, similar to a gecko or lizard, Its mouth has no tongue, and thin fangs grow in a chaotic array.
