Ako was attending high school when she was given the Jetman powers accidentally. After the Earth Ship was destroyed, the Birdonic Waves escaped and struck Ako while she was out walking, unbeknownst to her, she had gained the powers of the Blue Swallow.

She took advantage of her newfound power to become a top athlete within her school, jumping 2.4 meters without breaking a sweat. When Kaori Rokumeikan and Raita Oishi found her and asked her to join the Jetmen, she only agreed if paid an hourly rate. Kaori promptly gave her a one million Yen check for her cooperation. After her first battle with the team, she returned the check, having realized that fighting the Vyram was a responsibility that she had to take seriously.
