It is a special unit within the Earth Defense Force, consisting of five warriors selected for Earth Force. Each of the five possesses the power of one of the five legendary beasts that reside on Earth (Dragon, Griffin, Pegasus, Mermaid, and Phoenix), and wears a red, black, blue, white, or pink suit, respectively. The men's uniforms are gray, while the women's are red, and the women also wear skirts. The names of the five members all contain kanji characters related to the sacred beasts.

There is more emphasis on individuality among the members than in previous Sentai teams, with a unified image before and after transformation, and there are also many private scenes.
