Early Style was Tregear's original appearance before he left the Land of Light. Due to being a member of the Blue Tribe, Tregear is not a combat-oriented Ultra and lacks the stamina possessed by the Red Tribe such as Taro.

When Tregear was young, he attended the same class as Taro. Tregear initially didn't think much of him because he was popular for having famous parents. However, Taro approached him and they became friends. Out of curiosity, Tregear brought Taro to an off-limits area, locked behind bars. Tregear was unable to get in himself and manipulated Taro into breaking the two of them in. They then saw a pillar which played footage from the Ultimate Wars, and realized it was a tomb. They got in trouble at school the next day but Taro decided to stand up and admit their mistakes for the both of them, which Tregear secretly admired. Throughout their time in school, Taro became a symbol of light to Tregear, who continued to explore things such as night, darkness, loneliness, and fear, which he could only learn from the library, since the Land of Light had none of those.
