Following the defeat of the Innovators, the Earth Sphere Federation recovered the remaining 100+ Gaga units that were still functional and stored them in the factory within the captured Celestial Being. In 2314, these machines were modified into the GNZ-004/BW Gaga Cannons by the Earth Sphere Federation Forces (ESF Forces) for combat against the alien lifeform known as "Extraterrestial Living-metal Shape-shifter (ELS)", and were piloted by Innovades managed by Veda. As the ELS have the ability to assimilate its enemy upon contact, the original Gaga's suicide attack became pointless, so the Gaga Cannon was equipped with an additional pair of GN Cannons on its back.

In addition, the nanomachines on the surface of the mobile suit were reprogrammed, resulting in the Gaga Cannon's color scheme changing to that of the ESF Forces colors. When fighting in a battlefield saturated with GN Particles, the ability to visually identify allied units from the enemies are important. If the Gaga Cannon retained the color scheme of the original Gaga, the ESF Forces' mobile suit pilots that had participated in the previous battle against the Innovators might mistook them as enemies.
