The GRM Gundam was the prototype and the first mobile suit of the "GNZ Series" (also known as the "Ga Series") dedicated to the Innovades who call themselves Innovators. It was developed using design data of the Gundams within the quantum processing system, Veda, which was in the possession of the Innovator, Ribbons Almark, at that time. In particular, the GRM Gundam employed many technologies originating from one of the second generation Gundams, the GNY-004 Gundam Plutone, most prominently the Core Fighter system that enables the pilot to escape during an emergency. On the GRM Gundam, this system centered around a detachable backpack, and an improved version would be adopted by most of the subsequent GNZ series machines. Interestingly, the development of the GRM Gundam did not utilize the Gundam Plutone's data directly, instead the data utilized was from the GNY-004B Gundam Plutone Black, a replica of the Plutone made by the Innovators.
