The Linear Gun Tank is similar to traditional tanks, except that its main armament is a linear gun with a very high velocity, on par with a mobile suit's weaponry. The tank also possesses high maneuverability, even on rough terrain, thanks to its four continuous tracks. It has a crew of three: a commander, a driver, and a gunner. Although, it is possible to operate it with only two crew members. The Alliance's linear gun tanks are tan in color, while those of the Orb Union are painted dark green.

Throughout the First Alliance-PLANT War the Linear Gun Tank was the main ground vehicle used by OMNI Enforcer against ZAFT mobile suits on Earth. In ground battles, the Linear Gun Tank proved superior to ZAFT's TFA-2 ZuOOT, as was the case during the Battle of El Alamein, where more than half of the ZuOOTs present were rendered incapacitated. During the defense of JOSH-A, a group of linear gun tanks were able to destroy several TFA-2 ZuOOTs. Though they were quickly destroyed by the more nimble TMF/A-802 BuCUE.

In C.E. 74, during the Second Alliance-PLANT War, several Linear Gun Tanks were stationed at Heaven's Base, and participated in the battle against ZAFT forces.
