The OZ-13MSX1 Vayeate and its sibling unit, the OZ-13MSX2 Mercurius, were a pair of space-use mobile suits developed for OZ by the five captured Gundam Scientists using the OZ-12SMS Taurus‎ as a reference.[1][2] Whereas the Mercurius was designed as a defensive mobile suit, the Vayeate was designed primarily as an offensive unit. Both suits were designed to operate together, with one covering the other when in battle. The Vayeate, built from the same basic frame as Mercurius, was armed only with a large beam cannon. However, this beam cannon's destructive power exceeds that of the XXXG-01W Wing Gundam's powerful buster rifle, and it also does not have the latter's three shots limit. This is because the beam cannon is powered by a beam generator mounted on the mobile suit's back, providing the weapon with a virtually limitless "ammunition" charge. The Vayeate and its brother, Mercurius, mounts a cover to protect their head sensor, but it also limits vision. A second unit controlled by a Mobile Doll AI System was later built by White Fang.
