Seeing Dong Zhuo as a threat for manipulating Emperor Ling, he plotted to assassinate Dong Zhuo along with Ding Yuan and Zhang Wen, but was discovered by Dong Zhuo and imprisoned. In the end, he was brought before Diaochan as a hostage to lure out Ma Teng through Dong Zhuo's scheme, but was beheaded by Diaochan, who had cast aside her suffering.
