In the battle against the giant Guo Jia, he was severely wounded while protecting Liu Bei, but he managed to stop Guo Jia's movements, entrusted the future to Sun Quan, and was crushed to death under the collapsing city wall. After death, he was possessed by Chi You in exchange for the life given to him by the darkness.

In "The War God Duel," he overwhelms Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Guan Ping in his Chi You-possessed form, but his Chi You demonic armor is destroyed by Liu Bei and Di Lu in the Battle of Jianye. In "Comic World," he appears to have been stationed at the base until the Battle of Red Cliffs and witnessed the founding of Gou. He fought Chi You when he attacked Gou, and although he repelled him once, he became possessed by Chi You and attacked Sun Quan and others. However, Sun Quan, who had awakened as the Great Emperor of Gou, separated him from Chi You, saving his life.
