Hundreds of mechanical soldiers were deployed to protect the Holy Machine Soldier Runerex, which is fully automated and does not require a pilot. They slept in the Great Pit of Gaia along with Runerex, but were awakened by the Neo Zeon excavation work. They attacked the Neo Dark Tyrant that tried to approach Runerex.
